The Detroit Institute of Arts....amazing art in Detroit

Detroit Institute of Arts

The Detroit Institute of Arts is a top museums in the country for many great artists and art exhibitions and more. Come enjoy the DIA in the cultural district of Detroit. The DIA is a popular museum (it is close to the Charles Wright Musuem and Detroit Historical Museum as well) among tourists who come to the city as well as locals.

You can find some amazing collections of art here and you don't even have to be an "artsy" person as some people like to say, to appreciate it. Even if you're a person who is into architecture, you can appreciate the design of the building. The design alone is amazing in itself!!

The Detroit Institute of Arts is one of my favorite places to go as I went many times as a kid on school field trips as well as with my parents. I was and I still am very into art so I can always enjoy myself when I go here. It is located in the area called Cultural Center Historic District and is not far from the downtown area of Detroit.

Every time I go into this place, I am amazed when I first come in at the architecture, then I look around and realize there is so much to explore here. The collection of art in the museum is so vast that you could literally spend hours or even days looking and coming back to appreciate a good work of art. But then again, I'm an art major so maybe you should take that with a grain of salt ;).

Artists

Some of the most prominent artists that you can find while visiting are Thomas Cole, Paul Revere, Rembrandt Peale, Sharon Que, Frederic Remington, and many many more.

Great For Kids

The museum is also great for kids as they usually have events and activities for the kids to do during the weekends. They may have art projects for the kids to do or they may take them on tours of the museum and draw something they see. Don't hesitate to bring your kids if you have them. You can always call for more info on these activities. If you're into theatre, plays periodically show in the museum's theatre so be sure to check the schedule on these as well. This place truly has something for everyone to experience and enjoy.
